One of our rescues from O Cattery, Krispy, was adopted yesterday and so were both of the puppies from the Cebu City Pound! Thank you to all of you for opening your hearts to them! Although our 3 adoptables yesterday weren’t adopted, they still received a lot of love from everyone who stopped by! If you’re interested, they’re still up for adoption. Just check our Adoptables album for for info! Thank you to everyone who visited, purchased our merchandise, and gave donations! We also received a bottle of shampoo for our rescues at camp. Thank you to the donor who dropped it off at our booth 😊We’d also like to thank the generous sponsor who provided for our roundtrip transportation fare and thank you to our volunteers who helped out yesterday. As always, thank you to Parkmall for always supporting and assisting us during our events! 💕#appreciationsundaypost See MoreSee Less

Hi, I’m Thor! There are over a hundred of us currently at the shelter so that’s 100 mouths to feed and 100 rescues to bathe! We also have some rowdy and playful pups, me included 🐶, so sometimes our things can get too chewed up 😅 or they simply get too worn out after years of use. Additionally, some of us love to roll and run around in the mud so our shelter can get a bit dirty. You can say it gets chaotic when we’re around! With that, we’d like to ask for your help! We need some new leashes, collars, towels, and food/water bowls to replace our worn ones and also to accommodate our newer residents at camp. We, of course, need some vitamins too so that we can stay healthy! And we’ll also need some cleaning agents and mops to keep our shelter nice and clean! For in-kind donations, you may drop them off at our adoption drive in Parkmall every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month (We’ll be there tomorrow! 🐶🐱) or straight to our camp in Brgy. Guba. For monetary donations, you may refer to the list below.•Chinabank – Island Rescue Organization-Subangdaku branchChecking account #2890396715•BPI Account Number (1199 1624 93)-Account Name (Carla Joy Estrada)•GCash- Jaica Monique Celiz, 0977 091 1934•BDO Account Number (006100169478)- Jaica Monique Celiz•Via Pera Padala outlets : Jaica Monique Celiz, Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City 0977 091 1934•PAYPAL- helpiro@gmail.com And don’t forget to send us the transaction receipt. "My mother started it all. She was an animal advocate – my role model and inspiration. I remember back then when I was still young, I always mourn the loss of pets. Until one day, I found myself feeding animals everywhere at a very young age. It was only in 2005 that my rescuing journey commenced. Although, I didn’t have enough resources, but my heart is very eager to help.Thankfully, Island Rescue Organization (IRO) was launched in 2010, and it was a dream came true, not only for animals, but for willing volunteers like me. I joined the organization, and never turned back. Until now, I volunteer in IRO shelter, and my primary work is managing the rescued cats and dogs, and if I have extra time, I also help in rescue missions. As a volunteer, I struggle physically, emotionally, and financially. Physically – because apart from volunteering, I have an 8-hour day job. The rest of my hours are spent in tending to the 53 rescues and stray animals I deal with everyday. Emotionally – because everyday I see animals suffering everywhere. The reality is we can’t rescue everyone, and the endless suffering continues because of man’s irresponsibility. Lastly, financially – because all my salary goes to them. My wallet may always be empty, but my heart is always full.I told myself to spend the rest of my life in animal welfare. For me, rescuing is not what I do, but it is who I am. God knows my struggles, and He continues to bless me with strength. And if I have to define heaven: it is rescuing an abandoned or abused animal, and seeing him given a second chance in life. You and I – together, we can create heaven for them."– Xemenia CuyosIsland Rescue Organization Volunteer ————————–#PPMFeatureFridays features everyday lives and stories of people involved in the animal welfare community.Want to share an interesting story?
